# Stake and unstake

> How to stake $PARI and how to leave.

## What it is

Staking locks your \$PARI in the stake pool. Stakers receive the stakers' share of the fees, in SOL. There is no emission.

## When to use it

Use it if you hold \$PARI and want a share of the protocol's fees. Rewards depend on trading. A reward is not a fixed amount and not a return.

> You need a wallet with \$PARI and a little SOL for the transaction.

## Step by step

**1. Open Stake**

Open [Stake](https://pariprotocol.xyz/stake) and connect your wallet.

**2. Stake**

Type the amount and press Stake. Approve the transaction in your wallet.

**3. Start an exit**

To leave, start an exit for the amount you want back. It appears under Exits in progress with the time it unlocks.

**4. Withdraw**

When the exit is ready, press Withdraw. The \$PARI returns to your wallet.

## Numbers and limits

| Exit cooldown | 7 days by default. The Stake page shows the current value |
| Cooldown bounds | The admin can set it from 1 to 30 days |
| Stakers' rewards | Released over 7 days by default |

## What can go wrong

> An exit takes that amount out of your stake when you start it. What it received before stays yours.

> Your exit keeps the cooldown it started with.

> A pause of claims does not touch exits. You can still start an exit and withdraw.
